- Union cabinet ministry chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval to continue the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana till 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs.69,515.71 Crore from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
- The Great Place to Work Institute, India has awarded the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) “Great Place to Work” certification for the period of January 2025 to January 2026.
- Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) celebrated its 67th foundation day in New Delhi. Union Minister Rajnath Sing, Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 1st January 2025.
- Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Ministry of commerce and Industry (Moc&I) released the 6th edition ‘Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS). The top achievers are Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and Tamil Nadu.

- Brazil announced that Indonesia, has become the 10th full member of BRICS(Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) alliance. It is headquartered in Brazil.
- Government of India announced a relief assistance worth USD 500,000 to Vanuatu, a Pacific island nation, to help with rehabilitation, relief, and reconstruction efforts after an earthquake of magnitude 7.4.
- India-Nepal Military Exercise “Surya Kiran” takes place in Saljhandi, Nepal. This the 18th edition of this exercise.
Banking & Finance:
- Reserve Bank of India has issued a guideline to mandate the closure of Dormant Accounts, Inactive Accounts, Zero Balance Accounts in order to improve banking security.
- Reserve Bank of India has enabled a new provision for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments through full-KYC PPIs.
- National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced an extension of the deadline for implementing a 30% market share capital for Unified Payments Interface by two years till 31st, December 2026.

- 82nd Golden Globes Awards 2025 Overview :- American actor Ted Danson received the 1st ever Carol Burnett Award 2025. Emilia Perez a French musical crime comedy led with 10 nominations. And also it won awards in Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, Best Non-English Feature & Best Original Song.
- Bhuvnesh Kumar was appointed as CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI) by the Ministry of Electronics and information Technology (MeitY).
- Jyoti Sharma was appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) by succeeding Nidhi Bhasin.
- Vitul Kumar, a 1993 batch Indian Police Service officer has been appointed as the additional charge of Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF).
- Rajat Verma has been appointed as the CEO of Singapore based DBS bank with effective from 1st March 2025.

- India’s Koneru Humpy won the women’s championship title in 2024 FIDE World Rapid and Blits Championship held in New York, USA. Vaishali Rameshbabu won a Bronze medal.
- Inaugural King Cup International Badminton Open 2024 – won by Anders Antonsen from Denmark. While Lakshya Sen from India secured 3rd position at the tournament.
- 78th Santosh Trophy – West Bengal won the trophy by defeating Kerala.
